RCIA Bible Purchase
Council membership approved the purchase of Personal Study Bibles for the 2003 – 2004 RCIA Class at St. Paul's parish in North Canton, Ohio. Pastoral Associate for RCIA and Small Christian Communities, Judy Piero, and Reverend Monsignor James Clarke, Pastor at St. Paul's, worked with Council 3777 Public Relations contact Joe Sammartino to select an appropriate study bible. Following the selection, Joe proceeded to shop for that specific publication both locally and on the Internet for the best price/shipping value combination. This time the Internet delivered the best overall value for the purchase and 30 bibles
were secured for the upcoming RCIA class attendees.
A presentation of the bibles was made to Reverend Monsignor James Clarke and to Judy Piero at the Parish Office in February. Participants (see Photo Gallery) included: Monsignor Clarke, John Stellpflug and James Toy - Council 3777 Trustees, Judy Piero and Joe Sammartino - Council 3777 Public Relations contact. The purchase was made well in advance to take advantage of a free shipping offer and a 37% price discount as well as to insert a custom K of C label in each of the bibles.
Special labels (see Photo Gallery for picture of label) carrying the Knights of Columbus logo plus a donation message placed on the inside cover of each bible will document this charitable gesture by Council 3777. The labeling will also foster an ongoing awareness of how the Knights work closely with local parishes like St. Paul's to assist them with their Parish objectives. Let us pray that the Spirit will lead one or more male graduates of the next RCIA class to consider membership
in the Knights of Columbus and take an active role in further supporting the close working relationship between the Knights and the Community.
