If you choose to pray for any/all the
individuals on our prayer list, the Council
asks that you mention each person by name
and the malady to be relieved/lessened.
This way, each person is attributed the full
measure of God’s attention and mercy in
response to your specific intercession.
The following Scripture passages can be
used as your specific prayer of Petition,
Assurance or Thanksgiving for each person
you select from the prayer list. Take the
liberty to work in the person’s name and
condition into the prayer to personalize the
message if you like. God is not concerned
with absolute formality when you pray; talk
to Him freely in any way you wish and He
will listen.
PETITION
You may use this extract from Psalm #69 or
Psalm #31 to intercede for God’s favor on
behalf of the person for whom you are
praying.
Psalm 69 Vs 2-3; 14-18
2
Save me, God, for the waters have reached
my neck.
3
I have sunk into the mire of the deep, where
there is no foothold. I have gone down to the
watery depths; the flood overwhelms me.
14
But I pray to you, LORD, for the time of your
favor. God, in your great kindness answer
me with your constant help.
15
Rescue me from the mire; do not let me sink.
Rescue me from my enemies and from the
watery depths.
16
Do not let the floodwaters overwhelm me,
nor the deep swallow me, nor the mouth of
the pit close over me.
17
Answer me, LORD, in your generous love; in
your great mercy turn to me.
18
Do not hide your face from your servant; in
my distress hasten to answer me.
Psalm 31 Vs 2-4; 10-11; 16-17
2
In you, LORD, I take refuge; let me never be
put to shame. In your justice deliver me;
3
incline your ear to me; make haste to rescue
me! Be my rock of refuge, a stronghold to
save me.
4
You are my rock and my fortress; for your
name's sake lead and guide me.
10
Be gracious to me, LORD, for I am in
distress; with grief my eyes are wasted, my
soul and body spent.
11
My life is worn out by sorrow, my years by
sighing. My strength fails in affliction; my
bones are consumed.
16
My times are in your hands; rescue me from
my enemies, from the hands of my pursuers.
17
Let your face shine on your servant; save
me in your kindness.
ASSURANCE
Read this extract from Psalm #121. Through
these words, affirm God’s loving-kindness to
come to the aid of those who suffer.
Psalm 121 Vs 1-8
1
I raise my eyes toward the mountains. From
where will my help come?
2
My help comes from the LORD, the maker of
heaven and earth.
3
God will not allow your foot to slip; your
guardian does not sleep.
4
Truly, the guardian of Israel never slumbers
nor sleeps.
5
The LORD is your guardian; the LORD is
your shade at your right hand.
6
By day the sun cannot harm you, nor the
moon by night.
7
The LORD will guard you from all evil, will
always guard your life.
8
The LORD will guard your coming and
going both now and forever.
THANKSGIVING
When you learn of the healing power of your
prayers, celebrate and acknowledge God’s
mercy and love by reading this extract from
Psalm #41.
Psalm 41 Vs 2-4
2
Happy those concerned for the lowly and
poor; when misfortune strikes, the LORD
delivers them.
3
The LORD keeps and preserves them,
makes them happy in the land, and does not
betray them to their enemies.
4
The LORD sustains them on their sickbed,
allays the malady when they are ill.

Singing My Way Toward the Priesthood
by Neven Pesa
I'm a son of Croatian immigrants who first emigrated to Italy and subsequently to America in the 70's. Within two years of their marriage, my brother and I were both born. My mother lovingly tells me that God willed very much that I come into this world because I came as a "happy surprise" to both my parents, having been conceived only 4 months after my older brother had been ... >>read more
