College of Saint Joseph - Haiti

College of Saint Joseph - Haiti
The College of St. Joseph in Cap- Haitien, Haiti was the recipient of a one-time donation of money by Council 3777.
The campus consists of an (public) Elementary School (run by the Brothers of Christian Instruction for the last 125 years) and a (private) High School started approximately 6 years ago.
The high school portion of the campus was in great need of funds to assist students who could not afford the annual cost of tuition (approximately US $180.00) and to supplement the construction of a sports playground facility.
Brother Milo Frederique of the Brothers of Christian Instruction and Principal of the school, portioned the Knights donation as follows:
$500.00 for tuition assistance $2,000.00 towards the playground facility.
More than 800 students attend the Elementary School. An additional 195+ students attend the High School. There is little or no government assistance available to the College to repair the facility or to build anything additional. Brother Milo and his staff depend heavily on local fundraising, contributions from parents of students and private donations.
Brother Milo is a graduate of Walsh University and has been a Brother for 18 years. He is in his fourth assignment as Principal in his home country of Haiti.
